- Your Walking Log

Nutrition tip of the day: When you’re working to modify your eating habits, eating less is not necessarily the right idea. With Ayurveda one does not diet, one learns to eat a good portion of wholesome foods and fewer poor quality foods. If you often desire a good portion of sweets and various carbohydrates, you may want to try eating more protein and “good” fat within your six daily mini-meals. See more about mini-meals and some ideas on what to eat from my June 22nd blog.

I had some friends over this afternoon so our kids could play together. I was going about earlier getting the house freshened up. After golfing all morning, Dad was around so I put him up to vacuuming. As I went to work on other things, I realized that I had never heard our vacuum from another room. The sound of someone else running the vacuum was completely foreign o me. My first thought was how nice it was that it‘s a relatively quiet vacuum since when one is running a vacuum it sure sounds loud, right? My second thought was: Wait just a cotton picking minute! This is the FIRST time Dad had used our five-month-old vacuum! How had he managed to get away with that? My final thought on the vacuum was that I’ll be sure to have him make up for lost time.

Another first? I’d like to share with you a link for the first time, and certainly not the last time. It’s a link whereby you may print out your very own weekly walking log! Just click on this link: http://walking.about.com/library/cal/weeklycal.pdf and print out a few. While you’re at it, you may want to jot down some fitness and walking goals. How many miles would you like to walk each day this week? By the end of this month? What article of clothing would you like to fit in at the end of this month? What would you like to weight by then? What food item would you like to eliminate or significantly cut down on by then? Having simple fitness goals in writing will serve as a source of motivation when you just don’t feel like eating well or exercising. Post your walking log along with our fitness goals somewhere where you’ll see them every day! If you've not tried having a walking log before, jump in! It'll be yet another first! Get walking.
